October 25, 2011 at 2:55 PM | Posted in Uncategorized | Leave a comment

The fall season wrapped up last week. In soccer, the boys took home 1st place within the conference. The team finished undefeated, 6-0, capped off by a victory over Fremont Christian. The team will graduate eleven players in the spring, each one will be missed on the field next fall. In softball, the Lady Sailors overcame an early 10-1 deficit and defeated FCS by a score of 16-12.  After two rough innings, the girls fought back, scoring the maximum number of runs in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th innings.  Lily Vander Molen pitched the final three innings, giving up only two runs.  The comeback was a total team effort: every player contributed, either offensively or defensively.  The girls finish the season with a record of 5-3, finishing in a tie for 2nd place.

Girls’ basketball practices have already begun. The 5th & 6th grade teams play this Saturday at St. Mary’s in Spring Lake. The 6th grade team plays Muskegon Catholic at 11:00 and the 5th grade team plays Fremont Christian at noon. The 7th & 8th graders season will also tip-off next Thursday, November 3 with home games against Borculo Christian. The 7th grade game begins at 4:00 with the 8th grade game to follow, close to 5:00. Three Weeks!

August 17, 2011 at 2:20 PM | Posted in Uncategorized | Leave a comment

School and athletic seasons begin in less than three weeks. A reminder that all students need to have a physical (dated any time after April 1, 2011) on record before they will be allowed to practice or participate in games. At this time the school will not be offering them like we did last year. Both boys’ soccer and girls’ softball will hold their first practice after the first day of school on September 6. Schedules will be available online in the next week or you can pick up a paper copy at the Ice Cream Social in two weeks.

Spring Recap

June 1, 2011 at 8:41 PM | Posted in Uncategorized | Leave a comment

The spring season quickly came to an end recently. The boys baseball team concluded by playing some of their best ball of the spring, finishing the season with a record of 3-5, finishing fourth in the WMCMSL. The girls’ soccer team got off to a fast start and cooled down a little down the stretch, concluding the season with a record of 4-3, good enough for 2nd place overall.

On Friday, May 27 the league held its annual Track & Field meet at Unity Christian. Both teams did very well, the girls team took home 3rd place overall and the boys tied for first with Fremont Christian. The girls team was led by Alexa Shampine (1st place in 55 & 200 Hurdles), Malea Teerman (1st in 3200), and Abigail Billett (3rd place in Long Jump, Shot Put, and 100m). The boys were led by Will Deur (1st in 3200 & 2nd in 800), Jordan Rhodes (1st in 200 Hurdles & 2nd in Long Jump), and Tully Groenendyk (1st in 200 & 100, 2nd in 70, & 4th in High Jump).

Complete results can be found on the track page.
